I have been eyeing Kerastase products for long. For starters, I tried the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oleo-complexe shampoo and mask. Here’s the review of the shampoo 🙂

Ingredient Analysis:

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, MIPA Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Benzoate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, PEG 18 Castor Oil Dioleate, Propylene Glycol, PEG 55 Prolylene Glycol Oleate, Laureth 5 Carboxylic Acid, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, PPG 5 Ceteth 20, Laureth 2, Polyquaternium 53, Salicylic Acid, Linalool, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone, Limonene, Zea Mays Oil, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Camellia Oleifera Seed Oil, Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Fragrance

Since Sodium Laureth Sulfate is the 2nd ingredient (one of the harshest ingredients in shampoos), I am not going to dig deeper into the other ingredients. Glycerin and Propylene Glycol are moisturizers which is pretty good :). The 4 oils that they have mentioned as part of their OLEO-COMPLEXE technology are towards the end. So they don’t constitute a large percentage of the total composition.

CG Friendly: No

Texture: A runny, transparent gel like shampoo that lathers well

Smell: Smells absolutely diviiiiiiiine!

Packaging: A sturdy transparent bottle. And since it is an 80ml bottle, it is perfect for travel 😀

Performance:

This is how I shampoo my hair – How to wash & condition curly hair and here is a post with my full curly hair care routine – My curly hair routine .

+ The biggest plus point is that in spite of Sodium Laureth Sulfate being the 2nd ingredient, this doesn’t dry out my hair at all! Probably because of ingredients like glycerin and propylene glycol. And maybe because of the oils as well? Maybe I should give some credit.

+ My hair usually tangles up more than it already is (:p) if I use a really harsh shampoo. This doesn’t tangle my hair at all.

– (No negatives!)

In short: In spite of being a shampoo with SLS, Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oleo-complexe Sublime Cleansing Oil Shampoo doesn’t dry my hair, doesn’t cause knots and tangles, smells great and does a good job of cleansing hair 🙂
